I'm often asked how J & M got started. That history goes WAY back! It all started when I was about 8 years old and I asked my parents if I could paint my bedroom. After that, I changed the paint color in my room every few months.
Around that same time I took a great interest in wallpapering as well. Back in the 1970's, wallpaper was not the same quality as it is now. It was much thinner and required replacement every few years. Inevitibly, the day that our handyman was due to install the wallpaper, I would always come down with some sort of "illness" that required me to stay home from school. I spent those days following our handyman around the house and asking question after question about why he did things the way he did.

The "bug" for creating new rooms through color had bitten me and it stayed with me. I was always the friend who helped others when it came time to update the walls in their homes.
As the years went on I had many jobs from working in the hotel business to buying and selling antique toys. In 1989 I decided to leave my well paying job to start my own painting and wallpapering business, and so, J & M was born. My entire family thought that I had lost my mind. After all, I had a family to support! I started working out of the trunk of my car and it was tough at first. Luckily, my drive and ambition kept my business alive. Looking back, maybe I WAS crazy to take the chance that I did, but I am so glad that I did it! I've watched J & M grow into what it is now and I couldn't be more pleased. I have many more hopes and dreams for J & M and I will continue to work toward those goals. with the same ambition that has gotten me where I am today.
